Overview

At empirical foods we solve big problems with new thinking.  At every step we design it, build it, continually optimize it, and the empirical IT team is no different.  We are seeking an experienced IT Technician who has the passion to help us reach that next level.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain various network technologies for a multi-site environment such as, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless, VoIP, VPN, Dark Fiber, WAVE circuits.
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance activities, striving to minimize the disruption of end-user work.
  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot Cisco IP phones and support Communication Manger and Unity Connection servers.
  • Inspect LAN/WAN infrastructure and fix minor or major problems/bugs.
  • Analyze and interpret network traffic and workload to maintain a goal of 99.999% uptime utilizing SolarWinds Network monitoring.
  • Provide consistent and effective solutions based on issues such as traffic congestion, infrastructure upgrades, and routine troubleshooting.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot network and fiber optic cables.
  • Install computers, workstations, printers, and other devices as needed.
  • Interact with vendors and other empirical and non-empirical sites to coordinate the installation, configuration, and use of multi-site systems.
  • Assist our IT Helpdesk to resolve issues
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities

  • Cisco LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies.
  • Terminating various types of copper/fiber optic connectors.
  • Cable management in racks and termination trays.
  • Access Points and Wireless LAN Controllers knowledge and understanding.
  • Cisco Communication Manager support and troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Supporting and troubleshooting common office hardware and software.
  • Working knowledge of Nexus / VXLAN.
  • VMware products including ESXi, vCenter, and Horizon.
  • Network Access Control Systems such as Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine).
  • Cisco DNAC operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk, climb, stand, carry materials, must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. 

Experience:  Minimum 2 years in an IT /Networking related position.
Education:  Associate degree in computer science, networking administration, information technology, or a similar field is preferred.  Well-rounded practical experience may be substituted in lieu of formal education.
