Overview

The Machine Shop Fabricator/Welder will weld metal equipment and parts as well as fabricate or repair parts according to layouts, blueprints, and work orders. Will weld precision machine parts in support of the machine shop.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to fabricate parts including lay out, cutting, fitting, measuring, and welding while holding overall tolerances.
  • Perform required tig weld on light gauge stainless steel on machine parts.
  • Perform mig welding of various metals such as stainless, aluminum, and iron.
  • Ability to read blueprints and engineering plans to perform work within specifications.
  • Will effectively use tools to perform activities of buffing, sanding, grinding, and polishing metal to a #4 finish.
  • Will effectively read calipers, micrometers, and indicators.
  • Maintain a clean work area. Follow all safety guidelines and standards to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in tig welding required.
  • Experience in mig or sanitary welding a plus.
  • Good mechanical knowledge and familiar with industrial equipment and parts.
  • General computer knowledge and proficiency.

Demonstrated Competencies

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of employees, both in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Work independently and be self-directed.  Must be willing to learn new welding techniquices. 
  • Must have regular and punctual attendance.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach, kneel, climb stairs and ladders.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift over 60 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, including weekends.

Experience:  1 plus years of relevant welding and fabrication experience is required.  Experience may be substituted in lieu of formal education such as a welding certificate or degree.
Education:  High School diploma or equivalent, or verifiable ability to perform essential job functions.
